The eighth Steering Committee meeting of the Twinning project for the State Service of Ukraine for Geodesy, Cartography and Cadastre

On January 27, 2016 at the premises of the State Service of Ukraine for Geodesy, Cartography and Cadastre of Ukraine (hereinafter- StateGeoCadastre) the eighth steering committee meeting of the Twinning project “Assistance in Development of an Open and Transparent Agricultural Land Market” was held.

The project is aimed at supporting Ukraine in the development of an open and transparent agricultural land market through the improvement of the agricultural land market management and the framework of public land administration in line with the best EU practices

The First Deputy Head of StateGeoCadastre Liudmyla Shemelynets in her welcome speech presented the main achievements of the Twinning project during the eighth reporting period, in particular informed about the results of seven expert missions and 2 study visits to the Kingdoms of Spain and Netherlands, during which the best European practices were studied in the context of land reforms in Ukraine. Furthermore, among the main achievements was determined the drafting Guidelines on reflecting the best practices of EU Member States on the lands control and disposal, land cadastre, land consolidation and land management.

Deputy MS Project Leader Peter Ross, Junior Project Leader from the Republic of Germany Katja Dells and Junior Project Leader from the Republic of Lithuania Vilma Daugaliene in their speeches emphasized on the project importance and expressed their readiness for further cooperation after project closure.

During the meeting participants considered and approved the Minutes of the Seventh steering committee meeting as November 10, 2015 as well as discussed the interim results of the project.  The Resident Twinning Adviser Stefan Verbunt presented the quarterly project report, pointed out the main activities that hat taken place during the last reporting period within the framework of three main components and also presented recommendations regarding enhancing the efficiency of functioning of the agricultural sector of Ukraine.

The Resident Twinning Advisor Counterpart Rostislav Shmanenko in his turn presented the main achievements and practical aspect of the Twinning project in Ukraine. Furthermore, participants agreed on the date of the final conference for the Twinning Project scheduled for January 28, 2016.

Juana Mera Cabello, the First Counselor, Head of Department "Economic cooperation, Social and Regional Development," of the EU Delegation to Ukraine attended the meeting. The Head of the  Division of International Cooperation Projects of the Projects Management Unit of the Center for Adaptation of the Civil Service to the Standards of the European Union Inna Bielobratova took part in the event.
