On February 17, 2015 at the premises of the State Statistics Service of Ukraine the steering committee meeting for the Twinning Project “Support to Development Process in the State Statistics Service of Ukraine with the Objective of Enhancing its Capacity and Production” was held. The Project is implemented in cooperation with the Statistics Denmark and France's National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies.
The main goal of the project is to implement statistical methods and standards of the EU in Ukraine including the collection, processing and dissemination of statistical information. Furthermore, within the project the European experts are to support the improvement of production statistics and advance training of specialists of the State Statistics Service of Ukraine.
The Project Leader from Ukraine, Deputy Head of the State Statistics Service of Ukraine Natalia Vlasenko, the Project Leader from the Kingdom of Denmark Jesper Elemoze Jensen, the RTA Julia Muzichenko and the project coordinator of the EU Delegation to Ukraine Natalia Starostenko took part in the meeting.
The Project Leader from Ukraine, Natalia Vlasenko, in her welcoming speech greeted the participants of the meeting and thanked the European experts for the opportunity to use the international experience by improvement of the state statistical system. The MS Project Leader Jesper Ellemosse Jensen noted the significant progress by the implementation of the project and a high level of interaction between partners.
The participants discussed the status of achievement of the project planned results and the results of expert missions that took place during August– November, 2014. In addition, the RTA Irina Bernstein outlined the activities, envisaged by the project during the reporting period and presented plans for further implementation of the project.
The Junior Project Leader from the French Republic Dominique Francoz, the RTA Julia Muzichenko and the project coordinator of the EU Delegation to Ukraine Philippe Bertrand took part in the meeting.
The Head of the Division of International Cooperation Projects of the Projects Management Unit of the Center for Adaptation of the Civil Service to the Standards of the European Union Artem Takhtarov attended the event.
For reference: since 2005 according to the Decree of the President of Ukraine dated on 06.10.2005 № 1424/2005 «The Issue on Provision of the Twinning Programme Implementation in Ukraine» the National Agency of Ukraine on Civil Service directs and coordinates the activity on preparation and implementation the Twinning Programme in Ukraine. Moreover the National Agency of Ukraine on Civil Service is the national coordinator of implementation of the institutional building instrument.
