Steering Committee Meeting of the EU Project “Ukrainian-European Policy and Legal Advice Centre” (UEPLAC)

On May 31, 2010 the second steering committee meeting of the EU project “Ukrainian-European Policy and Legal Advice Centre” (UEPLAC) was held under the chairmanship of the Director of Bureau of European integration of the Secretary of Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine Yevhen Perelygin in the GOV Building.

During the meeting there was represented a review of UEPLAC during the reporting period. The publication "Ukraine - European Union: A collection of treaties and other documents of 1991-2009” was presented and the draft road map for the end of 2010 was agreed.
Mr. Perelygin reported on the necessity of prioritizing areas in 2010, in particular he noted about forming of progressive plan on approximation of Ukraine Legislation to the EU standards in 2010 and the importance of the project for beneficiaries.
Tetyana Kovtun, Director of the School for Senior Civil Service supported the position of Mr. Perelygin on the importance of the support of urgent needs of the beneficiaries. Ms. Kovtun also noted the effectiveness of cooperation between the Main Department of Civil Service of Ukraine and UEPLAC, particularly in the training of civil servants.
Michael Voegele, the Head of Operations Section 1, EU Delegation to Ukraine commented on the proposals of the Ukrainian part to the road map of the UEPLAC for the end of 2010. In particular, it was suggested to use the program SIGMA on expert evaluation of the project concept and the State program of reforming public administration and civil service for 2011-2015.
Representatives of the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine, Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, the Committee of European Integration of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and Twinning Programme Administration Office took part in the meeting.
