Joint Session of the Subcommittee № 6 “Justice, Freedom and Security”

On April 28, 2010 in the premises of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine under the chairmanship of Valeria Lutkovska, Deputy Minister of Justice, and John Kjaer, the Head of the Unit on Ukraine, Belorussia and Southern Caucasus of European Commission Directorate General for External Affairs the Joint Session of the Subcommittee №6 “Justice, Freedom and Security” of the EU – Ukraine Cooperation Committee took place. 

 
During the session the progress of Ukraine in the sphere of justice, freedom and security, in particular in the areas of human rights and freedom, judicial reform, legal aid in civil affairs, migration and shelter, border management, struggle against organized crime, visa free dialogue etc. was discussed. The issues of constitutional and judicial reforms together with the problem of combating corruption were high priority areas of interest for the European Party. It expressed its anxiety in prolongation the date of coming in force of the package of anti-corruption laws. 

Deputy Director of the Center for Adaptation of the Civil Service to the Standards of the European Union Natalia Kyrychenko reported on achievements of public bodies of Ukraine in the area of implementation of institutional building instruments Twinning and ТАІЕХ.

Representatives from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine, the Ministry of Ukraine for Family, Youth and Sport, Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, State border guard service of Ukraine, State committee for financial monitoirng of Ukraine, State Judicial Administration of Ukraine, Secretariat of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine took part in the session.
