On August 01, 2018, at the premises of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine the Eighth Steering Committee Meeting of the Twinning Project “Institutional Capacities of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine to Conduct Market Studies and Effectively Enforce Competition Law in accordance with EU standards” was held.
The goal of the Project is to increase the transparency and consistency of competition policy of Ukraine achieved through approximation of national legislation to EU standards, to improve law enforcement and competition advocacy on the basis of closer cooperation between the competition authorities of Ukraine and EU Member States. Twinning Project implementation is supported by a consortium of the Federal Republic of Germany and the Republic of Lithuania.
Chairman of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine, BC Project Leader Yuriy TERENTYEV, Deputy Director General for European Policies of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, MS Project Leader Wolf-Dieter PLESSING and Chairman of the Competition Council of the Republic of Lithuania, Co-Project Leader Sarunas KESERAUSKAS presented their welcoming speeches as well as underlined the effectiveness of the Project implementation and the importance of the measures taken within the framework of the adaptation of competition legislation to the standards of the European Union.
Resident Twinning Advisor Wolfgang JAKOBI together with the component leaders of the Twinning Project from the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine presented the eighth quarterly report of the Project and identified plans for the next reporting period. It was mentioned that during the reporting period the seminar week (11–15.06.2018) was organized. Short-term experts were involved in conducting of workshops and seminars foreseen in four activities (A1.4, A2.2, A3.2 and A4.3). The organization of the seminar week aimed to offer these trainings to more than 120 representatives of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine and its regional offices.
Representatives of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine, the EU Delegation to Ukraine and other stakeholders also took part in the meeting.

according to the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ukraine “On Approval of the Procedure for Initiation, Preparation and Implementation of the Twinning Projects” as of 11 October, 2016 No 700 the National Agency of Ukraine on Civil Service coordinates the implementation of the institution building instrument of the European Union Twinning in Ukraine. Furthermore, in accordance with relevant legal acts the National Agency of Ukraine on Civil Service is the coordinator of institution building instrument TAIEX implementation in Ukraine. In order to provide effective coordination of Twinning and TAIEX the Twinning Program Administration Office in Ukraine was established, its functions are performed by the Center for Adaptation of the Civil Service to the Standards of the European Union.
