On December 14, 2018 at the National Agency of Ukraine on Civil Service (NACS) a working meeting was held between First Deputy Head of NACS Volodymyr KUPRII and representatives of the UN Women in Ukraine project and Laboratory of Legislative Initiatives for the purpose of discussing the report of analysis of key points of convergence and opportunities for integrating gender into public administration and civil service reform, drafted by the Laboratory of Legislative Initiatives within the framework of cooperation with the UN Women in Ukraine project “Gender Equality in the Center of Reforms, Peace and Security”.
Halyna MESHCHERIAKOVA, representative of the UN Women in Ukraine project “Gender Equality in the Center of Reforms, Peace and Security”, expressed gratitude for the cooperation of NACS and stressed that gender mainstreaming approach is one of the main lines of the European integration of Ukraine.
Project Manager Shruti UPADHYAY emphasized that realisation of recommendations on integration gender into public administration and civil service reform is important for implementation of gender approaches into civil service.
For his part, First Deputy Head of NACS Volodymyr KUPRII informed on inclusion gender component into objectives and activities of public administration reform.
During the meeting, representatives of the Laboratory of Legislative Initiatives Andrii VYSHNEVSKYI and Maria VRABEL presented recommendations on the analysis of key points of convergence and opportunities for integrating gender into public administration and civil service reform, developed based on an analysis of international acts and commitments of Ukraine regarding gender equality in the system of public administration and civil service.
As a result of the meeting, cooperation agreements were reached, in particular on training and interviewing for NACS employees.
Representatives of the UN Women in Ukraine project, NACS, Laboratory of Legislative Initiatives and Center for Adaptation of the Civil Service to the Standards of the European Union took part in the meeting.
