The purpose of the Seminar on September, 30 - October, 2, 2009 was to give an overview of the principal features of the internal market policy fields, as well as to provide an occasion for contacts amongst the six countries of the Eastern Partnership and with the European Commission (Azerbaijan, Byelorussia, Armenia, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine).
Ms. Emer Daly, Director of Directorate B, Horizontal Policy Development, DG Internal Market and Services of the European Commission, delivered an opening address to the participants.
Mr Rutger Wissels, Director, Directorate D, DG RELEX of the European Commission, presented the Eastern Partnership Policy and the internal market aspects.
Mr Tom Diderich, Administrator, Unit B.4, DG Internal Market of the European Commission made an overview of internal market principles.
Mr Zacharias Bilalis, DG Enterprise of the European Commission, made a report on the free movement of goods.
Mr Juan Antonio Salazar Romero, DG Enterprise of the European Commission, presented the principle of mutual recognition.
Mr Sarunas Avizienis, Head of Customs Legislation Harmonisation Division of the Customs Department of Lithuania, highlighted the experience of Lithuania on the implementation of free movement of goods.
