JOINT NATO PDP TWO-DAY CONFERENCE UKRAINE-GEORGIA WAS HELD

On 18-19 July, 2017 at the premises of Diplomatic Academy of Ukraine under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine joint NATO PDP two-day conference Ukraine-Georgia was held.

The overall goal of the conference was discussion of professional development issues as a major part of the public sector reform and presentation of updated policy and strategy of the professional training program for a wide range of partners.

Within the framework of the opening session NATO-Ukraine PDP Manager Ove Urup-Madsen presented the conference program as well as Director of the Political Affairs and Security Policy Division (PASP) of NATO HQ Alberto Bin represented NATO priorities for the support reform at the security and defense sector. Ambassador-at-large, Chairmen of the Task Force for the Diplomatic Academy Reform Sergiy Korsunsky briefly outlined further steps of the Diplomatic Academy of Ukraine aimed at professionalization of the security and defense sector.

Within the framework of the first day of the conference the participants discussed approaches on transformation of professional training program of Ukraine and Georgia and exchanged the opinions on the reform of the professional development system, in particular on the necessity of strengthening institutional capacity in order to provide sustainable and effective professional training process.

During the second day of the conference participants reviewed some aspects of the hybrid war and had the opportunity to discuss the development of national potential at the cybercrime area and necessity for comprehensive development of strategic communications as a measure of counteraction to hybrid aggression.

NATO-Ukraine PDP Coordinator Marcin Koziel, UK Ambassador in Ukraine Judith Gough, UK Special Defense Adviser to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Phil Jones, Adviser UK NSGI Sally Gill, Head of National Cyber Security Domain at the e-Governance Academy Foundation Raul Rikk, Bissiness Director – M&C Saatchi World Services, UK Gerry Osborne, Head of NATO Department, Government Office for European and Euro-Atlantic integration, Secretariat of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine Oleksiy Genchev and other ukrainian and international experts took part in the event.

On behalf of the Center for Adaptation of the Civil Service to the Standards of the European Union Ivan Roshchin - Head of the Expert and Analytical Department and Serhiy Kukh - Chief Consultant of the Department of Informatization and Software Support attended the event.

For reference: NATO-Ukraine Professional Development Program is an instrument aimed at support to reforms in Ukraine by raising the professional level of civil servants in the security and defense sector. The program was initiated in 2005 during high-level NATO-Ukraine consultations (Vilnius, Lithuania) and is implemented under the NATO Trust Fund mechanism.
