Within the framework of the working visit in Brussels Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze took part in NATO–Ukraine Commission Meeting at the level of the ambassadors of NATO member countries. The event was devoted to the issues of the course of reforms implementation process and the security situation in and around Ukraine.
NATO Deputy Secretary General Rose Gottemoeller in her welcome speech highly appreciated the results of the cooperation between Ukraine and NATO as well as reform implementation process.
Ivanna Klimpush-Tsintsadze focused on the main results of internal changes, in particular within the framework of implementation of the previous Annual National Program (ANP) by Ukraine under the auspices of the NATO-Ukraine Commission. Issues of the reforming the security sector, the judicial system and ensuring the rule of law, fighting corruption, improving the tax system, continuing decentralization, and improving the interagency coordination system were covered.
Ivanna Klimpush-Tsintsadze said: "We clearly understand that the opportunities provided by the Annual National Program have not been fully used for many years. However, we are proud of the fact that over the past two years we have succeeded in significantly changing and improving the interaction by demonstrating real, important achievements". The Vice Prime Minister also outlined the main provisions of the planned ANP for 2018.
During the Commission Meeting, particular attention was paid to the importance of holding of NATO–Ukraine Commission Meeting at the level of the heads of the state and governments during the NATO Summit in Brussels on July 2018.
The ambassadors of NATO member countries stressed their staunchest support to Ukraine, outlined progress made by Ukraine and expressed readiness of the Alliance to facilitate further reforms.
Annual National Programs will remain a practical mechanism for reforms implementation, which are assessed annually by NATO.
Vice Prime Minister said: "We are carrying out reforms not for Brussels or Washington, Warsaw, Vilnius or Berlin. We do it for the benefit of the country and citizens ".
