On October 12, 2018 at the premises of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine the Ninth Steering Committee Meeting of the Twinning Project “Institutional Capacities of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine to Conduct Market Studies and Effectively Enforce Competition Law in accordance with EU standards” was held.
The goal of the Project is to increase the transparency and consistency of competition policy of Ukraine achieved through approximation of national legislation to EU standards, to improve law enforcement and competition advocacy on the basis of closer cooperation between the competition authorities of Ukraine and EU Member States. Twinning Project implementation is supported by a consortium of the Federal Republic of Germany and the Republic of Lithuania.
Chairman of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine, BC Project Leader Yuriy TERENTYEV, Deputy Director General for European Policies of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, MS Project Leader Wolf-Dieter PLESSING and Chairman of the Competition Council of the Republic of Lithuania, Co-Project Leader Sarunas KESERAUSKAS welcomed the participants and expressed gratitude to the all participants for fruitful cooperation as well as support in strengthening institutional capacities of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine for the purpose of effective enforcement of competition law and implementation of market research in order to promote competition in key sectors of the national economy. In addition, the Minutes of the Eighth Steering Committee Meeting was presented to the meeting participants for approval.
Resident Twinning Advisor Wolfgang JAKOBI together with the component leaders of the Twinning Project from the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine presented the ninth quarterly report of the Project focusing in detail on the implemented events for all components. In particular, it was reported that two members of the Antimonopoly Committee had successfully completed internship to the Competition Council of Lithuania within two weeks aimed at practical familiarization with the main tasks and principles of the operation of the specified state authority. Also, plans for the next reporting period were identified.
On behalf of the Center for Adaptation of the Civil Service to the Standards of the European Union the Chief Specialist of the Twinning Coordination Division of the Projects Management Unit Sofiia Zvarych attended the event.

according to the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ukraine “On Approval of the Procedure for Initiation, Preparation and Implementation of the Twinning Projects” as of 11 October, 2016 No 700 (in the wording of the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ukraine as of August 22, 2018 No 663) the National Agency of Ukraine on Civil Service coordinates the implementation of the institution building instrument of the European Union Twinning in Ukraine. Furthermore, in accordance with relevant legal acts the National Agency of Ukraine on Civil Service is the coordinator of institution building instrument TAIEX implementation in Ukraine. In order to provide effective coordination of Twinning and TAIEX the Twinning Program Administration Office in Ukraine was established, its functions are performed by the Center for Adaptation of the Civil Service to the Standards of the European Union.
