The results of quantitative nationwide sociological researches toward attitudes and public awareness regarding Ukraine’s accession to the EU and NATO were presented in Kyiv

Research for the public procurement (customer – State Committee for Television and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine) was performed by Center of Strategic Development of Areas Ltd., the winner of the relevant tender, this year May-June, Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze, Head of the State Committee for Television and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine Oleh Nalyvaiko, Head of Center of Strategic Development of Areas Ltd. Andriy Orlov participated in this presentation.

According to Andrii Orlov, research toward EU testifies that the overwhelming majority of Ukrainians support accession to the European Union (67%) and shows a high level of trust in the European Union as a strategic partner of Ukraine (63%). There is a positive dynamic of supporting Ukraine's accession to the EU in time perspective - the number of Ukrainians in favor of the EU has increased by 21% since 2013. In general, Ukrainians expect from EU integration expanding of their capabilities and rate of Ukraine's development in line with current world trends.

  The sociologist informed about the results of research on NATO too. “The idea of Ukraine's accession to NATO as a guaranteed security path of the country is taking in the minds of Ukrainians since 2012. The percentage of those who consider this way to be better has grown more than four times compared to 2012. 57% of Ukrainians consider that the membership in NATO is the main guarantee of national security as of May 2019,” - Andrii Orlov stressed out.

According to the survey, the overwhelming majority of Ukrainians (78%) consider themselves well-informed about the European Union and have seen information materials about EU on numerous occasions (62%). A third of Ukrainians (31%) noticed targeted information campaigns, in particular, the campaign “European integration: the power of opportunity”. 72% of respondents from all regions consider that it is necessary to receive more information about the EU and European integration.

Most Ukrainians (62%) also would like to learn more about NATO. Among the information requests to Ukrainians, consequences of Ukraine's accession to NATO are the most interesting and have the paramount importance.

Head of the State Committee for Television and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine Oleh Nalyvaiko noted that several information campaigns regarding European integration are planned to implement in the second half of this year.

In this context, Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze reminded that the competition for the best NATO publication was ongoing - it had been extended until 31 July. The winners will get the opportunity of a two-day trip to NATO Headquarters in Brussels.
