First deputy head of MDCSU Volodymyr Tkach and Head of Operations / Co-ordinator for Cooperation of the Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine Laura Garagnani came forward with their welcome words. They noted the importance of such measures in the chosen subject and wished the participants fruitful and constructive discussions.
Event was moderated by Olga Savran, Senior Advisor - Anti-Corruption SIGMA Programme, OECD. She also presented a report concerning the review of legislation of Ukraine in the field of conflict of interest and corruption, which was held as part of the expert mission of the SIGMA program. She spoke about some important issues on conflict of interest and civil service to consider when developing Ukrainian legislation in relevant spheres.
Her presentation on ethics in public service provided Dr. Henriette F. Schatz, Director of LaLance Partners in Management, Expert on Methodical Integrity Management (Kingdom of Netherlands), in which there were described three levels of perception of public ethics: national, individual and organisational, etc.
Among other speakers of the 1st day of workshop Tom McGoona, Former Head of Prevention and Internal Investigations of United Kingdom Customs Service (Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland), and Laura Stefan, Romania Anticorruption Coordinator of Romanian Academic Society, whose presentations were dedicated to anti-corruption prevention measures in public service and international experience in improvement of anti-corruption legislation.
The event was attended by about 70 participants including international experts, representatives of ministries and other central executive bodies of Ukraine.
