Tymofiy Motrenko made a welcome speech, noted that the main priority of the Main Departmnent of the Civil Service of Ukraine activity is the improving of professional training of civil servants in several ways, which are training, re-training and advanced training for civil servants. Also he indicated the current achievements of Civil Service of Ukraine in this sphere.

During the meeting the authorities of MDCSU have familiarized the Canadian Mission with the main lines of MDCSU activity. Volodymyr Tkach the First Deputy Head of the Main Department of Civil Service of Ukraine made the overview of the civil service of Ukraine. He made a detailed description of people employed in the sphere of Civil Service within 2004-2008 years, gender characteristic of the Ukrainian civil service, the position of MDCSU in the system of executive authorities.

Deputy Head of the Main Department of Civil Service of Ukraine, Olena Tertushna, highlighted the issues of civil servant`s training which as follows: the kinds of Civil Servant`s professional training and training of personnel of territorial administrations, the structure of funding of Ukrainian Civil Servant`s professional training.

Eduard Zaharchenko, Director of the School of Senior Civil Service of Ukraine, spoke about the State program for professional development on the issues of European and Euro-Atlantic integration. The issues of the functioning of the Center for Adaptation of the Civil Service to the Standards of the European Union and National civil servants database were highlighted by Oleksandr Sayenko, acting Director of the Center for Adaptation of the Civil Service to the Standards of the European Union.

A presentation of Draft law on the Civil Service by Andriy Vyshnevskyi, Deputy Head of the Main Department of Civil Service of Ukraine closed the Meeting.
