On June 20, 2014 the meeting of the steering committee of the Twinning Project “Harmonization of the national phytosanitary legislation of Ukraine in accordance with the European norms and standards”, with the beneficiary the State Veterinary and Phytosanitary Service of Ukraine (hereinafter – the SVPSU) involved, took place. The project is being implemented in joint cooperation with the consortium of the member states – the Federal Republic of Germany, the French Republic and the Republic of Lithuania.
The project above mentioned contributes harmonization of administrative, technical and scientific abilities of the State Veterinary and Phytosanitary Service of Ukraine on the central and regional levels according to the EU standards.
The participants of the meeting discussed the state of the project realization as well achievement of mandatory results during the reporting period. They also coordinated the plans for the recurring quarter, the date of the next steering committee meeting and the closing conference on the completion the Twinning project. Furthermore the participants presented reports on the completion of training for the trainers regarding the quality assurance during the surveillance in Latvia and regarding the participation in the work of the Expert Group “ЕРРО” for the quarantine pests of forests in Austria.
Beneficiary Country Project Leader Andreiyi Chelombitko, Member State Leader Herhard Gunderman, the Coordinator of the sector “Economical partnership, social and regional development” of the Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine Enzo Damiani, Resident Twinning Adviser (RTA) Agris Bokums, RTA counterpart Svitlana Sklyarenko and other representatives of the state Veterinary and Phytosanitary Service of Ukraine took part in the event.
The Senior Consultant of the Projects Management Unit of the Center for Adaptation of the Civil Service to the Standards of the European Union Olga Denysiuk took part in steering committee meeting.
For reference: since 2005 according to the Decree of the President of Ukraine dated October 06, 2005 № 1424/2005 «The Issue on the Twinning Programme Implementation in Ukraine» the National Agency of Ukraine on Civil Service (hereinafter – the NAUCS) is the coordinator of the Twinning Programme Implementation in Ukraine. Furthermore, the NAUCS is the coordinator of the institutional building instrument TAIEX and CIB Programme according to the relevant regulatory acts.
