On July 1, 2014 the steering committee meeting of the Twinning Project "Strengthening the protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights in Ukraine" which is being implemented in cooperation with the Spanish Patent and Trademarf Office and the Danish Patent and Trademark Office took place.
The Project is aimed at reduction the level of piracy and creation of favorable conditions for improvement investment climate in Ukraine in accordance with the EU legislation through enhancing effectiveness of the state system of security and protection of intellectual property rights.
All the participants of the meeting discussed the state of the Project implementation, in particular realization plan regarding achievement of compulsory results during the first quarter that covers the period from March to June, 2014. Furthermore, the action plans for the next quarter were presented and the date of the regular steering committee meeting was approved.
The Head of the State Intellectual Property Service of Ukraine, the Project Leader from Ukraine Mykola Kovinya, the Spanish Project Leader Cristina Fernandez Ordas, Junior Project Leader from the Kingdom of Denmark Keld Nihman Yensen, the First Adviser of the Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine Nikolas Berge, the Resident Twinning Adviser Pablo Rodenas and his Ukraininan Counterpart Oksana Shpytal took part in the steering committee meeting.
Deputy Head of the Twinning Coordination Division of the Center for Adaptation of the Civil Service to the Standards of the European Union Yan Yakushchenko also took part in the event.
For reference: since 2005 according to the Decree of the President of Ukraine dated October 06, 2005 № 1424/2005 «The Issue on the Twinning Programme Implementation in Ukraine» the National Agency of Ukraine on Civil Service (hereinafter – the NAUCS) is the coordinator of the Twinning Programme Implementation in Ukraine. Furthermore, the NAUCS is the coordinator of the institutional building instrument TAIEX and CIB Programme according to the relevant regulatory acts.
