Working Meeting regarding the Contract Preparation of the Twinning Project for the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine

On July 8, 2014 the working meeting regarding the contract preparation for the Twinning Project “Support to the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine in Strengthening of Safety Standards of Commercial Road Transport” where the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine is the beneficiary was held.

The Twinning Project is to be implemented in cooperation with the consortium of the countries including the Republic of Poland, the Federal Republic of Germany and the Lithuanian Republic.

The Project implementation is aimed at strengthening commercial road transport according to the technical requirements of the European Union as well as quantity reduction of road accidents in Ukraine.

Some peculiarities of the contract preparation for the Twinning Project were discussed. Moreover, the main goal, objectives and further directions of activities within the framework of the Project were approved during the working meeting.

Resident Twinning Adviser Counterpart, Director of the Department of Safety of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine Mykola Gorbakha, Resident Twinning Advisor Marcin Flieger, the Project Coordinator in the area of transport of the EU Delegation to Ukraine Svitlana Didkivska, representatives of the State Inspection of Ukraine on Land Road Security as well as foreign experts took part in the event.

Deputy Head of the Twinning Coordination Unit of the Center for Adaptation of the Civil Service to the Standards of the European Union Yan Yakushchenko attended the meeting.

For reference: since 2005 according to the Decree of the President of Ukraine dated October 06, 2005 № 1424/2005 «The Issue on the Twinning Programme Implementation in Ukraine» the National Agency of Ukraine on Civil Service (hereinafter – the NAUCS) is the coordinator of the Twinning Programme Implementation in Ukraine. Furthermore, the NAUCS is the coordinator of the institutional building instrument TAIEX and CIB Programme according to the relevant regulatory acts.
