On July 16, 2014 the steering committee meeting of the Twinning Project «Institutional Support to the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine on Increasing the Operation Performance and the Competitiveness of Rail Transport in Ukraine» was held.
In the context of the recent signature of economic part of the EU – Ukraine Association Agreement this project taking prominent role. The project aimed to support the general process of reforms of railway sector and contributes to the implementation of the best European practices regarding improving productivity and competitiveness of rail transport in Ukraine.
During the meeting information regarding the progress during the third reporting period (April 6 – July 4, 2014) of the Project implementation was presented. Moreover the activities for the next quarter and the date of the next meeting of the Project Steering Committee were discussed.
Project Leader from the Kingdom of Spain Matilde Fernandez Balbin, Junior Project Leader from the Republic of Poland Jakub Kapturzhak, Depute Junior Project Leader Ireneusz Mayher and Resident Twinning Adviser Jose Samino took part in the meeting. The Director on corporative development of property and social policy of the State Administration of Railway Transport of Ukraine Ivan Isopenko, the Deputy Head of the railway transport state policy department of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine Serhiy Savinykh and other representatives of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine attended the meeting. The Projects Coordinator in the transport sector of the Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine Svitlana Didkivska took part in discussion.
The Head of the Twinning Coordination Unit of the Center for Adaptation of the Civil Service to the Standards of the European Union Yan Yakushchenko took part in the event.
For reference: since 2005 according to the Decree of the President of Ukraine dated on October 6, 2005 № 1424/2005 «The Issue on the Twinning Programme Implementation in Ukraine» the National Agency of Ukraine on Civil Service directs and coordinates the activity on preparation and implementation the Twinning Programme in Ukraine. Moreover the NAUCS is considered to be the national coordinator of the institutional building instrument TAIEX and CIB Programme according to the relevant regulatory acts.
