On September 10, 2014 the closure meeting for the Twinning Project “Harmonization of phytosanitary legislation of Ukraine according to European standards” for the State Veterinary and Phytosanitary Service of Ukraine was held. The Project is implemented in cooperation with a consortium of EU member states – the Federal Republic of Germany, the French Republic and the Republic of Latvia.
The purpose of this Project was to contribute to the administrative, technical and scientific capacity of the State Veterinary and Phytosanitary Service of Ukraine in accordance with the EU standards.
The event started with the speech of the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Igor Shvaika. He thanked all the partners for their cooperation and noticed the necessity for further implementation of the Twinning Project outcomes.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany in Ukraine Christoph Weil in his welcome speech emphasized the
willingness of the Federal Republic of Germany to continue close cooperation with Ukrainian partners.
Anastasia Terekh, Deputy Head of the Resource Management, Operation and Development Unit of the Center for Adaptation of the Civil Service to the Standards of the European Union attended the meeting. She represented basic principles of the Twinning instrument, achievements and results of its implementation in Ukraine.
Project Leader from the EU member state Gerhard Hyunderman and Resident Twinning Adviser Agris Bokums highlighted the results and achievements of the Twinning Project.
For reference: since 2005 according to the Decree of the President of Ukraine dated on 06.10.2005 № 1424/2005 «The Issue on Provision of the Twinning Programme Implementation in Ukraine» the National Agency of Ukraine on Civil Service directs and coordinates the activity on preparation and implementation the Twinning Programme in Ukraine. Moreover the NAUCS is the national coordinator of implementation of the institutional building instrument TAIEX and CIB Programme according to the relevant legal acts.
