The Meeting of the Coordination Group for Implementation of the NATO–Ukraine Programme for Professional Development of the Civilian Personnel of Security and Defense Sector

On February 5, 2015 at the premises of the National Agency of Ukraine on Civil Service the regular meeting of the Coordination Group for Implementation of the NATO–Ukraine Programme for Professional Development of the Civilian Personnel of Security and Defense Sector was held.

The Head of the National Agency of Ukraine on Civil Service Kostiantyn Vashchenko in his opening remarks welcomed all the participants and outlined the main achievements of the Programme in 2014. In his turn, the Programme Manager Ove Urup-Madsen described the priority activities for the coming year.

Furthermore the Programme Activity Plan for 2015 was considered. The participants discussed the concept of the Third Annual Programme Conference which is to take place in March this year. It was also decided to update the personnel staff of the Organization Committee for implementation the Course on Defense and Security for the Leading Personnel of Government Authorities.

Deputy Director of the NATO Liaison Office in Ukraine Anne-Christine B'yerhen, representatives of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Diplomatic Academy of Ukraine, State Emergency Service of Ukraine, the State Guard of Ukraine, the Security Service of Ukraine, the Ukraine National Guard and universities took part in meeting of Coordination Group.

The Director of the Center for Adaptation of the Civil Service to the Standards of the European Union Maryna Kanavets and the First Deputy Director of the Center for Adaptation of the Civil Service to the Standards of the European Union Yulіa Lykhach attended the event.

For reference: the NATO–Ukraine Programme for Professional Development of the Civilian Personnel of Security and Defense Sector was launched in October, 2005 during the NATO-Ukraine high level consultations (Vilnius, Lithuania). The Programme provides not only practical training, but specific financial contributions from the Allies. According to the conclusion of the Sixth Session of the Commission on the Ukraine's partnership with NATO the National Agency of Ukraine on Civil Service was established as the national coordinator of the Programme implementation.
