The XV International NATO Week organized by the NATO Defense College with the assistance of the NATO School in Oberammergau

On April 20, 2015 the XV International NATO Week organized by the NATO Defense College with the assistance of the NATO School in Oberammergau was opened.

The event takes place at the Ivan Chernyakhovsky National Defense University of Ukraine. The aim of this year's International Week is to discuss the priority issues of international security, including present and future role of NATO's further priorities of the Alliance. The subject of this International week is “NATO after the Wales Summit”.

The Head of the National Defense University of Ukraine, General-Lieutenant Vasyl' Telelym, in his opening speech stressed the urgency of the issues, which will be discussed, including deepening cooperation with NATO in the educational, political spheres in terms of European cooperation.

The high level of event is confirmed by the list of participants. The Minister of National Defense of Lithuania Juozas Olekas, the Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Petro Mehed, the Deputy Assistant of NATO General Secretary for Defense Policy and Planning Jonathan Parish, the Head of the NATO Defense College Janusz Bojarsky, representatives of educational institutions, research institutions, the Ukrainian and international experts took part in the event. Juozas Olekas stressed on the importance of deepening further cooperation in the field of international security and defense, including implementation of the NATO–Ukraine Program for Professional Development of the Civilian Personnel of Security and Defense Sector.

The Head of the Analytical Department of the Center for Adaptation of the Civil Service to the Standards of the European Union Ivan Roshchin and the Head of the Industry Expertise Sector of the Center Kateryna Tkachenko attended the event.

For reference: According to the conclusion of the Sixth Session of the Commission on the Ukraine's partnership with NATO the National Agency of Ukraine on Civil Service was established as the national coordinator of the implementation of  the NATO–Ukraine Program for Professional Development of the Civilian Personnel of Security and Defense Sector.
