On May 21, 2015 at the premises of the State Statistics Service of Ukraine the fifth steering committee meeting for the Twinning Project “Support to Development Process in the State Statistics Service of Ukraine with the Objective of Enhancing its Capacity and Production” was held. The Project is implemented in cooperation with the Statistics Denmark and France's National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies.
The main objective of the Project is the implementation of statistical methods and standards of the EU in Ukraine including the collection, processing and dissemination of statistical information. Furthermore, within the Project the European experts support the improvement of statistics production and advance training of specialists of the State Statistics Service of Ukraine.
The Project Leader from Ukraine Natalia Vlasenko in her opening speech highlighted the importance of cooperation between Ukrainian and European experts and expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to use international experience on issues of statistical literacy, and access to microdata and dissemination policy.
The participants discussed the status of achievement of the Project planned results and the results of expert missions that had been taking place during November, 2014 – February, 2015.
The RTA Irina Bernstein outlined the activities, envisaged by the Project during the reporting period and presented plans for further implementation of the Project. In addition, participants agreed on the date of the next steering committee meeting for the Twinning Project.
The coordinator of the Project from the EU Delegation to Ukraine Philippe Bertrand, the Project Leader from the Kingdom of Denmark Jesper Elemoze Jensen and the Junior Project Leader of the Member State, France's INSEE Dominique Frankoz took part in the meeting.
The chief specialist of SIGMA and СІВ Division of the Projects Management Unit of the Center for Adaptation of the Civil Service to the Standards of the European Union Nazarenko Victoria attended the event.
For reference: since 2005 according to the Decree of the President of Ukraine dated on 06.10.2005 № 1424/2005 «The Issue on Provision of the Twinning Programme Implementation in Ukraine» the National Agency of Ukraine on Civil Service directs and coordinates the activity on preparation and implementation the Twinning Programme in Ukraine. Moreover the National Agency of Ukraine on Civil Service is the national coordinator of implementation of the institutional building instrument.
