On July 03, 2015 at the premises of the State Intellectual Property Service of Ukraine (hereinafter – SIPSU) the fifth steering committee meeting of the Twinning Project “Strengthening the Protection and Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights in Ukraine” was conducted.
This project is implemented by the State Intellectual Property Service of Ukraine jointly with Spanish Patent and Trademark Office and Danish Patent and Trademark Office and covers the analysis of some legislation of Ukraine in the area of intellectual property and its correspondence to the EU legislation, performing trainings for employees of State Intellectual Property Service of Ukraine.
The Head of the Industrial Property Legal Support Division of SIPSU Inna Shatova in her welcome speech thanked European partners for support in development of a number of legislative acts of Ukraine in the sphere of intellectual property; she also touched upon the problems which arose during project implementation. The Project Leader from the Kingdom of Spain Cristina Fernández Ordás andJunior Project Leader from Denmark Keld Jensen expressed their readiness to assist Twinning project implementation.
Resident Twinning Adviser Pablo Rodenas submitted interim quarterly report for consideration of the Steering Committee and made brief overview of recent implemented events (for the period March 11 – June 10, 2015).
The Head of Press and Information Section Nikolas Berge, the Head of Section “Economic Cooperation and Regional Development” of Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine Juana Mera Cabello, and the expert from Danish Patent and Trademark Office Sores Tomsen attended the meeting.
Senior consultant of the Unit of Administrative Reform Projects, SIGMA and CIB of the Center for Adaptation of the Civil Service to the Standards of the European Union Viktoriia Nazarenko took part in this meeting.
For reference: since 2005 according to the Decree of the President of Ukraine dated on 06.10.2005 № 1424/2005 «The Issue on Provision of the Twinning Programme Implementation in Ukraine» the National Agency of Ukraine on Civil Service directs and coordinates the activity on preparation and implementation the Twinning Programme in Ukraine. Moreover the National Agency of Ukraine on Civil Service is the national coordinator of implementation of the institutional building instrument.
