On July 14, 2015 at the premises of the State Space Agency of Ukraine the steering committee meeting for the Twinning Project “Strengthening the State Space Agency’s of Ukraine (SSAU) Institutional Capacity to Implement European Space Programmes in Satellite Navigation (EGNOS/Galileo) and remote Sensing (GMES)” was held. This Twinning project is implemented jointly with the Spanish National Institute for Aerospace Technology.
The goal of the Project is to improve the capacity of the State Space Agency and space industry of Ukraine to actively participate and contribute to the European space initiatives, in particular in the field of satellite navigation (Galileo) and ERS (GMES).
BC Project Leader Serhiy Kapshtyk informed on the process of approval of the draft Laws of Ukraine in the sphere of satellite navigation and remote sensing developed taking into consideration knowledge and experience European experts.
MS Project Leader Manuel Mulero Valenzuela highly estimated the progress and results obtained in the process of the projectimplementation.
The RTA Carmen Rodriguez provided the summary of completed activities as well as fulfillment of mandatory results and benchmarks. Moreover the activities for the next quarter and the date of the next meeting of the Project Steering Committee were considered.
The participants agreed on the date of the next Steering Committee meeting and discussed the concept and the date of the media event aimed at highlighting the main developments and achievements of the project.
Jose Manuel Gorostiaga Ugalde, MS Deputy Project Leader, Mykola Demydenko, Co-RTA, Head of Operations Section 3 “Development related to infrastructure (energy, transport) and environment” Walter Tretton and Svitlana Didkivska, Project Manager form Delegation of the EU to Ukraine took part in this meeting.
The Head of the Projects Management Unit of the Center for Adaptation of the Civil Service to the Standards of the European Union Oksana Ishchuk attended the event.
For reference: since 2005 according to the Decree of the President of Ukraine dated on 06.10.2005 № 1424/2005 «The Issue on Provision of the Twinning Programme Implementation in Ukraine» the National Agency of Ukraine on Civil Service directs and coordinates the activity on preparation and implementation the Twinning Programme in Ukraine. Moreover the National Agency of Ukraine on Civil Service is the national coordinator of implementation of the institutional building instrument.
