On October 13, 2015 at the premises of the State Space Agency of Ukraine the eighth Steering Committee meeting for the Twinning Project “Strengthening the State Space Agency’s of Ukraine (SSAU) Institutional Capacity to Implement European Space Programmes in Satellite Navigation (EGNOS/Galileo) and remote Sensing (GMES)” was held. This Twinning project is implemented jointly with the Spanish National Institute for Aerospace Technology.
The purpose of the Project is to improve the capacity of the State Space Agency and space industry of Ukraine to actively participate and contribute to the European space initiatives, in particular in the field of satellite navigation (Galileo) and ERS (GMES).
Co-RTA Mykola Demydenko informed on the process of approval of the draft Laws of Ukraine in the sphere of satellite navigation and remote sensing developed taking into consideration knowledge and experience of European experts.
MS Project Leader Manuel Mulero Valenzuela presented the progress and results obtained in the process of the project implementation in the form of statistics, furthermore the date and agenda of the Closure event were considered.
MS Deputy Project Leader Jose Manuel Gorostiaga Ugalde presented the activities for October-November 2015 and reviewed the updated project schedule.
The RTA Carmen Rodriguez provided the summary of completed activities as well as fulfillment of mandatory results and benchmarks during the eighth reporting period.
Project expert Carlos Tamarit emphasized that after the project completion Ukraine would get the most complete and modern legislation in the space sphere.
The participants agreed on the date of the Closure event and discussed the concept and the date of the media event aimed at highlighting the main developments and achievements of the project.
Peoject expert Felix Bellido and Svitlana Didkivska, Project Manager from Delegation of the EU to Ukraine took part in this meeting.
The Senior Consultant on the Twinning Coordination Sector of the Center for Adaptation of the Civil Service to the Standards of the European Union Olesia Voroniuk attended the event.
For reference: since 2005 according to the Decree of the President of Ukraine dated on 06.10.2005 № 1424/2005 «The Issue on Provision of the Twinning Programme Implementation in Ukraine» the National Agency of Ukraine on Civil Service directs and coordinates the activity on preparation and implementation the Twinning Programme in Ukraine. Moreover the National Agency of Ukraine on Civil Service is the national coordinator of implementation of the institutional building instrument.
