On December 16, 2015 at the premises of the State Intellectual Property Service of Ukraine (hereinafter – SIPSU) the seventh steering committee meeting of the Twinning Project “Strengthening the Protection and Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights in Ukraine” was conducted.
This project is implemented by the State Intellectual Property Service of Ukraine jointly with Spanish Patent and Trademark Office and Danish Patent and Trademark Office and covers the analysis of some legislation of Ukraine in the area of intellectual property and its correspondence to the EU legislation, performing trainings for employees of State Intellectual Property Service of Ukraine.
The main aim of the steering committee meeting was to review activities and events held during the reporting period. In the welcome speech the BC Project Leader Alla Zharinova thanked the European experts for the support in development of the draft laws of Ukraine in the sphere of intellectual property and focused of problematic points during the project implementation. The Project Leader from the Kingdom of Spain Cristina Fernández Ordás and RTA Pablo Rodenas commented on the current situation regarding implementation of the necessary laws in the sphere of intellectual property.
Besides, during the meeting the issue of continuation of the project was discussed and the indicative activities for further reporting period were presented.
The representatives of the State Intellectual Property Service of Ukraine, Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine, Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine and other stakeholders took part in this steering committee meeting.
Yuliia Vasylko, Deputy Head of projects management Unit of Center for Adaptation of the Civil Service to the Standards of the European Union attended the event.
For reference: since 2005 according to the Decree of the President of Ukraine dated on 06.10.2005 № 1424/2005 «The Issue on Provision of the Twinning Programme Implementation in Ukraine» the National Agency of Ukraine on Civil Service directs and coordinates the activity on preparation and implementation the Twinning Programme in Ukraine. Moreover the National Agency of Ukraine on Civil Service is the national coordinator of implementation of the institutional building instrument.
