On March 3, 2016 at the premises of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine the Fourth Steering Committee Meeting for the Twinning Project “Support to the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine in Strengthening Safety Standards of Commercial Road Transport” was held.
The Project is implemented in cooperation with the General Inspectorate of Road Transport (GITD, Poland), the Federal Office for Goods Transport (BAG, Germany), the Federal Highway Research Institute (BASt, Germany) and the State Road Transport Inspectorate under the Ministry of Transport and Communications (SRTI, Lithuania).
The Project is aimed at improving Ukraine’s commercial road transport safety in line with the EU technical requirements and best international practices as well as decreasing the number of traffic accidents and Co-RTA Volodymyr Koskovetskyi in his opening remarks expressed gratitude to the European experts for fruitful cooperation and support in creation of commercial road transport safety in Ukraine and stressed on the importance of the adaptation the Ukrainian Legislation to the respective EU Directives.
The Project Leader on behalf of the Republic of Poland Michal Pierzchala mentioned the importance of the cooperation of partners in order to achieve project mandatory results.
The Resident Twinning Advisor Michal Rzemieniewski jointle with his Counterpart Volodymyr Koskovetskyi presented the Fourth Quarterly Report of the Project and plans for the next reporting period. In addition, the participants discussed and approved the activities during the next quarterly period and agreed on the date of the next Steering Committee Meeting.
Junior Project Leader on behalf of the Federal Republic of Germany Robert Maiworm, Junior Project Leader on behalf of the Republic of Lithuania Darius Sadaunykas, Acting Director of the Cabinet of General Inspector of Road Transport Katarzyna Piechowska-Strumik, Senior Advisor of the Cabinet of General Inspector of Road Transport Beata Jablonowska, Transport Sector Manager of the EU Delegation to Ukraine Svitlana Didkivska and the representatives of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine and State Service of Ukraine for Transport Safety and Security attended the event.
The Senior Consultant on the Twinning Coordination Sector of the Center for Adaptation of the Civil Service to the Standards of the European Union Olesia Voroniuk took part in the meeting.
For reference: since 2005 according to the Decree of the President of Ukraine dated on 06.10.2005 № 1424/2005 «The Issue on Provision of the Twinning Programme Implementation in Ukraine» the National Agency of Ukraine on Civil Service directs and coordinates the activity on preparation and implementation the Twinning Programme in Ukraine. Moreover the National Agency of Ukraine on Civil Service is the national coordinator of implementation of the institutional building instrument.
