On March 15, 2016 at the premises of Ministry of Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Communal Services of Ukraine the extended meeting of the Working Group for Twinning project preparation and implementation “Introduction of a Management System of Waste of Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) in Ukraine” was held. The main purpose of the meeting was to discuss further implementation of mentioned above project and to aware stakeholders regarding its main object, purposes and mandatory results.
The project purpose is to bring gradually the Ukrainian waste management system closer to EU standards by introducing effective and sustainable management systems for its household wastes, in particular for WEEE and waste batteries in a first step.
The BC Project Leader, Deputy Minister of Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Communal Services of Ukraine Eduard Krugliak welcomed the participants and emphasized on the importance of this Twinning project implementation for Ukraine. The MS Project Leader Johannes Mayer briefly outlined the main purpose, overall objective and mandatory results of the project.
Elina Velinova, Stoyanova-Lazarova, Resident Twinning Advisor, presented the Twinning project, it main result to be implemented and told briefly about Twinning institution building instrument.
In this meeting took part Co-RTA Maksym Barinov, Twinning focal point Liudmyla Poltorachenko, Twinning STE Maria Karsteva, other members of Twinning Working Group, representatives of Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine, Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine, public organizations and private enterprises.
The Senior Consultant on the Twinning Coordination Sector of the Center for Adaptation of the Civil Service to the Standards of the European Union Olesia Voroniuk attended the meeting.
For reference: since 2005 according to the Decree of the President of Ukraine dated on 06.10.2005 № 1424/2005 «The Issue on Provision of the Twinning Programme Implementation in Ukraine» the National Agency of Ukraine on Civil Service directs and coordinates the activity on preparation and implementation the Twinning Programme in Ukraine. Moreover the National Agency of Ukraine on Civil Service is the national coordinator of implementation of the institutional building instrument.
