On March 31, 2016 at the premises of the State Intellectual Property Service of Ukraine the eighth Steering Committee Meeting of Twinning project «Strengthening the Protection and Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights in Ukraine" was held.
The project is implemented by the State Intellectual Property Service of Ukraine together with the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office and the Danish Patent and Trademark Office.
The aim of the project is to strengthen the administrative capacity and competence of the State Intellectual Property Service of Ukraine, provide proposals for the effective legal measures against counterfeiting and piracy and to ensure effective implementation of legislation and sanctions against violators of intellectual property rights. The project is directed to reduce piracy and to favorable conditions in accordance with the EU legislation for improving the investment climate in Ukraine by rising the efficiency of public health and protection of intellectual property.
The Acting Head of the State of Intellectual Property Service of Ukraine Antonina Malish, greeted the participants of the meeting and thanked the European experts for support and assistance in the development of a number of legislative acts of Ukraine in the field of intellectual property and focused on topical aspects during the period of project implementation. The Project Leader of the Kingdom of Spain Cristina Fernandez and Resident Twinning Advisor Pablo Rodenas has commented on the current situation of the necessary legislative acts on intellectual property implementation.
Additionally, the key events realized in the last reporting period were discussed as well as the tentative activities for the text reporting period were presented.
Representatives from the State Intellectual Property Service of Ukraine, the EU Delegation to Ukraine, the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine, the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine, the Supreme Administrative Court of Ukraine and others attended the event.
The Deputy Head of Projects Management of the Center for Adaptation of Civil Service to EU Standards Yuliia Vasylko took part in the meeting.
For reference: since 2005 according to the Decree of the President of Ukraine dated on 06.10.2005 № 1424/2005 «The issue on Provision of the Twinning Programme Implementation in Ukraine» the National Agency of Ukraine on Civil Service directs and coordinates the activity on preparation and implementation the Twinning Programme in Ukraine. Moreover the National Agency of Ukraine on Civil Service is the national coordinator of implementation of the institutional building instrument.
