On March 17, 2016 on the occasion of the official opening of the Twinning project «Assistance with implementation of SPS (sanitary and phytosanitary measures) commitments under the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement»
The project is implemented by the State Veterinary and Phytosanitary Service of Ukraine together with the State Food and Veterinary Service of the Republic of Lithuania and Abruzzo and Molise Region Experimental Animal Health Care Institute “G. Caporale” (IZSAM) The event was opened by the First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine Yaroslav Krasnopolskyi, who stressed on the importance of raising the level of food safety for the citizens and exports.
The Head of the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection Volodymyr Lapa underlined the importance of realization of the Twinning project not only for the State Veterinary and Phytosanitary Service of Ukraine but for the whole country.
From the Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine congratulated participants the First Counsellor, the Head of Section – Economic Cooperation, Social and Regional Development Juana Mera Cabello and Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania to Ukraine Y.V. Marius Yanukonis and Deputy Head of the diplomatic mission of the Italian Republic Stefano Stuchi e who have expressed willingness from the European side to the comprehensive support of the project and further cooperation.
The congratulated speeches were also made by Director of the State Food and Veterinary Service of the Republic of Lithuania Jonas Milius, Scientific Manager of Abruzzo and Molise Region Experimental Animal Health Care Institute “G. Caporale” (IZSAM) Giovanni Savini.
Additionally, the Deputy Director of the State Veterinary and Phytosanitary Service of Ukraine Alexander Verzhyhovskyy stressed on the achievements of previous Twinning projects for State Veterinary and Phytosanitary Service of Ukraine and outlined the objectives of the new project.
From the Center for Adaptation of the Civil Service to the Standards of the European Union Deputy Head of the Resource Management and Development Activities Unit Denys Paparia took part in the meeting.
For reference: from 2005 according to the Decree of the President of Ukraine dated on October 6, 2005 №1424 / 2005 “Issue of implementation of Twinning in Ukraine” National Agency of Ukraine on Civil Service directs and coordinates the activities for the preparation and implementation of Twinning in Ukraine.
