On November 8, 2016 at the premises of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine the Seventh Steering Committee Meeting for the Twinning Project “Support to the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine in Strengthening Safety Standards of Commercial Road Transport” was held.
The Project is implemented in cooperation with the General Inspectorate of Road Transport (GITD, Poland), the Federal Office for Goods Transport (BAG, Germany), the Federal Highway Research Institute (BASt, Germany) and the State Road Transport Inspectorate under the Ministry of Transport and Communications (SRTI, Lithuania). The Project is aimed at improving Ukraine’s commercial road transport safety in line with the EU technical requirements and best international practices with the aim of decreasing the number of traffic accidents.
Deputy Minister on European Integration issues, Project Leader from Ukraine Viktor Dovhan welcomed the participants and expressed gratitude to the European experts for fruitful cooperation and support in creation of commercial road transport safety in Ukraine.
In welcome speech the Project Leader on behalf of the Republic of Poland Michal Pierzchala underlined the importance of the cooperation of partners within the framework of its successful implementation.
Junior Project Leader on behalf of the Federal Republic of Germany Robert Maiworm and Junior Project Leader on behalf of the Republic of Lithuania Darius Sadaunykas also welcomed the participants.
Resident Twinning Advisor Piotr Marzec thanked all the stakeholders for their cooperation and emphasized that according to the decision of the EU Delegation to Ukraine the project will be extended to 3 months till January 16, 2017. Furthermore he presented the Quarterly Report of the Project, presented the activities within framework of the Project components and identified plans for the next reporting period.
Deputy Head of the Transport Safety and Technical Regulations Department, RTA Counterpart Anton Schelkunov, Transport Sector Manager of the EU Delegation to Ukraine and other took part in the event.
On behalf of the Center for Adaptation of the Civil Service to the Standards of the European Union the Senior Consultant on the Twinning Coordination Sector of the Projects Management Unit Yuliia Fedyna attended the event.

according to the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine “On Approval of the Procedure for Initiation, Preparation and Implementation of the Twinning projects” as of October 11, 2016 No 700 the National Agency of Ukraine on Civil Service coordinates the implementation of Institution Building Instrument Twinning in Ukraine.
In addition, according to the relevant regulatory acts the National Agency of Ukraine on Civil Service is the national coordinator of institutional building instrument TAIEX and CIB programme implementation in Ukraine.
In order to provide effective coordination of Twinning, TAIEX instruments and CIB programme the Twinning Programme Administration office in Ukraine was created, its functions are executed by the Center for Adaptation of the Civil Service to Standards of the European Union.
