On December 21, 2016 at the premises of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine the Eighth Steering Committee Meeting on the occasion of the Twinning Project “Support to the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine in Strengthening Safety Standards of Commercial Road Transport” for the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine took place.
The Project is implemented in joint cooperation with the General Inspectorate of Road Transport (GITD, Poland), the Federal Office for Goods Transport (BAG, Germany), the Federal Highway Research Institute (BASt, Germany) and the State Road Transport Inspectorate under the Ministry of Transport and Communications (SRTI, Lithuania).
The Project is aimed at improving Ukraine’s commercial road transport safety in line with the EU technical requirements and best international practices to reduce the number of accidents and deaths caused by them.
Deputy Minister on European Integration, BC Project Leader Viktor Dovhan in his opening speech welcomed the participants as well as expressed gratitude to the European experts for fruitful cooperation and support in creation of commercial road transport safety in Ukraine.
Head of Operations Section 3 “Development related to infrastructure (energy, transport) and environment” of the Delegation of the EU to Ukraine Johannes Baur, Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania in Ukraine Marius Janukonis, Deputy Head of the Mission at Embassy of the Republic of Poland to Ukraine Rafal Wolski and MS Project Leader Michal Pierzchala stressed the importance of the project for Ukraine, noting the strong relationships that had been developed between the partners during the project implementation, that will facilitate the effective implementation of the delivered goals in the future.
RTA Piotr Marzec congratulated all the participants on successful completion of the project and outlined the main results achieved during its implementation.
Director of Legal Department, Chairman of the Inspection Road Transport of the Republic of Poland Renata Rychter, Head of the Federal Office of freight traffic ofFederal Republic of Germany Reymar Benkendorf, Head of Inspection Department in Bydgoszcz Krzysztof Nowak and senior civil servant Federal Republic of Germany Klaus Pastor presented key achievements of project components.In the final conference representatives of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine, the State Service of Ukraine on transport security, the EU Delegation to Ukraine as well as national and international experts took part.
On behalf of the Center for Adaptation of the Civil Service to the Standards of the European Union the Senior Consultant on the Twinning Coordination Sector of the Projects Management Unit Yuliia Fedyna attended the event.

according to the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine “On Approval of the Procedure for Initiation, Preparation and Implementation of the Twinning projects” as of October 11, 2016 No 700 the National Agency of Ukraine on Civil Service coordinates the implementation of Institution Building Instrument Twinning in Ukraine.
In addition, according to the relevant regulatory acts the National Agency of Ukraine on Civil Service is the national coordinator of institutional building instrument TAIEX and CIB programme implementation in Ukraine.
In order to provide effective coordination of Twinning, TAIEX instruments and CIB programme the Twinning Programme Administration office in Ukraine was created, its functions are executed by the Center for Adaptation of the Civil Service to Standards of the European Union.
