The First Module of the Programme “Development of Citizenship Competences of Civil Servants” was finished

On March 20–22, 2017 at the premises of the National Agency of Ukraine on Civil Service 25 representatives of higher education institutions, who are responsible for training masters under the specialty “Public Management and Administration”, completed the first module of the Programme “Development of Citizenship Competences of Civil Servants”.

During the training participants discussed the issues about the education for democratic citizenship and human rights education as the way for establishing democracy, citizenship competences of civil servants. They also considered the structure and content of specialty “Public Management and Administration” in the context of education for democratic citizenship and human rights education as well as challenges and prospects of the introduction of the formation and development of civil competences of civil servants in masters’ programmes.

The developed methods and plans of implementation the modules/themes on development of citizenship competences in educational programmes for masters on specialty “Public Management and Administration” are the main expected results of training.

The Swiss–Ukrainian Project of International Technical Assistance “Development of Citizenship Competences in Ukraine” (DOCCU) is implemented in Ukraine within the framework of the Swiss Cooperation Strategy for Ukraine for 2015–2018, in particular within the direction “Local Self-Government and Public Services”. The Swiss Confederation is the donor of the Project, and the Zurich University of Teacher Education (Switzerland) is the main performer of the Project. The National Agency of Ukraine on Civil Service is the beneficiary of the Project. The main goal of the Project is support the sustainable development of civil society through sharing knowledge on education for democratic citizenship and human rights education in Ukraine.
