Training at the ”Future Civil Servant“ School was completed

On 17-18 June and 01-02 July 2017 at the premises of the National Agency of Ukraine on Civil Service the first training stage of the School “Future Civil Servant” was held. The Project was organized by the National Agency of Ukraine on Civil Service, the Center for Adaptation of the Civil Service to the Standards of the European Union in joint cooperation with the Centre for Respective Initiatives and Studies supported by the Democracy Reporting International (DRI). Training was conducted by Ukrainian and international lecturers with the participation of the expert of the EU project “Support to the implementation of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU” Caesar Herm and Professor of the German Research Institute of Public Administration, member of the United Nations Expert Committee on Public Administration Yak Zikov.

Within the framework of the training the participants of the School considered the system of Ukrainian government authorities and their interaction as well aswork in the civil service in Ukraine. In addition the lectors focused on the EU–Ukraine Association Agreement implementation issues and presented information on the challenges faced in civil servants’ activities in the context of the European integration of Ukraine.

At the same time, during two days of the event the participants of the School reviewed the types of regulatory documents that are drafted in the civil service as well as developed their skills on documents preparation.

In addition, the programme participants presented their vision of reforming of definite areas of public administration and improving the activities of relevant government authorities.

After completion of the training all the participants received certificates and will be recommended for internship in government authorities.

School "Future Civil Servant” is a short-term training aimed at the involvement of young people in the civil service through clarification the basic elements of civil service as well as instruments and practices, necessary for work in government authorities.

Within the framework of the Project realization 147 applications were received from all regions of Ukraine and only 24 contenders under the age of up to 35 years old with higher education and fluent English were selected.

24 representatives from 11 regions of Ukraine (Kharkiv, Poltava, Zaporizhia, Vinnytsia, Chernivtsi, Volyn, Rivne, Mykolaiv, Lviv, Khmelnytskyi and Kyiv) took part in the training.  10 of them represented Kyiv and Kyiv region and 14 of them represented other regions of Ukraine.
