Head of the NAUCS Nataliia Aliushyna took part in the online conference «Gender Budgeting in Ukraine: achievements, challenges, development prospects»

On November 18, 2020, Head of the NAUCS Nataliia Aliushyna took part in the online conference «Gender Budgeting in Ukraine: achievements, challenges, development prospects».

The event was organised by the «Gender Budgeting in Ukraine» Project (GRB Project), which is implemented with the financial support of the Government of the Kingdom of Sweden, in order to discuss the achieved results, challenges and further development of gender-oriented budgeting in Ukraine.

In her speech, Nataliia Aliushyna singled out, that the understanding of civil servants and local government officials of the benefits of integrating gender approaches into their activities will help to reform public administration, local government and decentralisation reform more effective and help them comply with European standards and principles of good governance. A special role in this process is given to the system of professional training of civil servants and local government officials.

The implantation of gender mainstreaming and ensuring the principles of equal rights and opportunities for women and men remains one of the priorities of the NAUCS.

In mentioned direction, the NAUCS actively cooperates with international partners, in particular the «Gender Budgeting in Ukraine» Project, the UN Women in Ukraine, the Friedrich Ebert Foundation in Ukraine and the Canadian-Ukrainian Project «Support to Ukraine’s Reforms for Governance» (SURGe).

During 2019, the NAUCS together with the GRB Project and the Friedrich Ebert Foundation in Ukraine conducted a series of trainings for trainers on the implementation of gender equality policy and gender budgeting in the system of advanced training of civil servants and local government officials in various cities of Ukraine, in particular in Zhytomyr, Ivano-Frankivsk, Zaporizhia, Sumy, Odessa and Kyiv.

Summing up, Nataliia Aliushyna stressed that the activities of the NAUCS will continue to be aimed at integrating the principles of human rights, non-discrimination and gender equality in the civil service.

In order to ensure effective cooperation in the context of including themes of gender equality and gender-oriented budgeting in the training programs of the system of training, specialisation and advance training of civil servants and local government officials NAUCS, the «Gender Budgeting in Ukraine» Project and the Friedrich Ebert Foundation in Ukraine concluded a Cooperation Agreement, which was signed on March 20, 2019.
